Every year, Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 program spotlights the Canadian tech companies that are growing the fastest. This year, Sinistar is one of them.
The Technology Fast 50 is an annual program from Deloitte Canada that honours homegrown technology companies whose innovation and leadership are driving exceptional growth. The 2026 winners, announced on October 28, include 82 companies from coast to coast.
The companies are ranked in three categories: the Technology Fast 50, made up of the country's 50 fastest-growing tech companies; Enterprise—Industry Leaders, for large-scale tech, media and telecom companies; and Companies-to-Watch, for emerging tech stars.
The Companies-to-Watch category recognizes Canadian technology companies with the potential to become future Technology Fast 50 candidates. Deloitte ranks them by their revenue growth over their last three years of operation.
Seventeen companies made the 2026 list. Sinistar ranks 14th, with revenue growth of 251%.
According to Deloitte, this year's winners share a clear trait: they have moved from cautious ambition to bold execution. They are investing, hiring and innovating despite uncertainty. They are also focused on winning customers and building the talent they need to keep growing.
Much of Sinistar's recent growth comes from its expansion into the United States. In October, the company also welcomed Peter Piotrowski, former Chief Claims Officer at Hippo, as Strategic Advisor to support its U.S. expansion and its relationships with insurers.
"Being named a Company to Watch is a recognition of the whole team's work. In the U.S., as in Canada, insurers and adjusters are looking for faster, more transparent temporary housing for their policyholders, and that's exactly what we've built." — Alexis Vertefeuille, Founder and CEO of Sinistar
Sinistar is a technology platform designed for temporary housing after an insurance claim. When a home becomes unlivable after a fire, a flood or another disaster, insurers and adjusters publish relocation requests on the platform. Hosts with furnished homes then submit bids for those requests.
This model opens the market to small short-term rental operators, in a sector long dominated by big players. Sinistar's proprietary HomeMatch AI tool helps match each family with the right home, while the platform handles the paperwork and payments. Real people provide support from the start of the stay to the end.
Today, Sinistar operates in Canada, the United States and France.
The idea for Sinistar came about in 2016. Alexis Vertefeuille learned that a friend's mother had been stuck in a hotel after her home was damaged. He put her in touch with another friend who had a vacant apartment, and he saw firsthand the difference a quality temporary home could make.
Shortly afterward, he founded Sinistar with his own savings. The company's growth accelerated during the pandemic, when short-term rental operators were looking to replace lost tourism revenue. Sinistar has kept growing since, first across Canada and now in the U.S. and Europe.
For insurers and adjusters, faster and better-matched housing means smoother claims and more satisfied policyholders. Hosts get a new source of income. Communities gain access to a wider network of quality homes when disaster strikes.
What matters most, however, is the impact on the families. Sinistar's goal is to give people going through a difficult time a comfortable place to live and real support throughout their stay.
The upshot? Sinistar's place in Deloitte's 2026 Technology Fast 50 reflects Alexis Vertefeuille's leadership and the work of the entire Sinistar team. It also shows that tech growth can go hand in hand with helping displaced families feel at home. Want to be part of it? Become a host or contact our team.
