Sinistar, a pioneering, AI-enabled, tech-first temporary housing platform purpose-built for insurance claims, today announced that Peter Piotrowski, an accomplished insurance claims executive with more than 35 years of industry experience, has joined the company as Strategic Advisor.
Peter is one of the most recognized claims leaders in the U.S. property and casualty insurance industry and an established thought leader. Throughout his career, he has led claims organizations at both global carriers and technology-forward insurers, building a reputation for a customer-centric approach and for using technology to improve the claims experience for policyholders and adjusters alike.
Most recently, Peter served as Chief Claims Officer at Hippo, where he oversaw the company’s claims services, including its rollout of an AI-driven claims workflow, before retiring from the role. Prior to Hippo, he served as Chief Claims Officer at Vault for six years and held senior claims leadership roles at The Hanover Insurance Group, AIG, and Chubb. He now focuses on board and advisory work with companies shaping the future of insurance.
Peter’s decision to join Sinistar reflects growing recognition among claims leaders that temporary housing has become a critical part of the modern claims experience. For displaced policyholders, where they stay and how quickly they are placed shapes their entire perception of a claim — and for carriers, it directly affects cycle times, loss costs, and customer satisfaction. Sinistar’s platform was built specifically to bring technology, transparency, and data-driven decision-making to temporary housing services for claims.
Peter Piotrowski said:
“Throughout my career, I’ve believed that the best claims organizations deliver exceptional customer experiences while continuously finding ways to improve efficiency and outcomes. Temporary housing is a critical component of that experience, yet it remains an area with significant opportunity for innovation. What attracted me to Sinistar is its fresh approach to solving longstanding industry challenges through technology, transparency, and a genuine focus on the policyholder. I’m excited to work with Alexis and the Sinistar team to help accelerate their growth in the U.S. market and bring meaningful value to insurers, adjusters, and the customers they serve.”
As Strategic Advisor, Peter will work closely with Sinistar’s leadership team on growth initiatives, go-to-market strategy, and product development, helping the company deepen its relationships with insurers and keep its platform aligned with the evolving needs of claims organizations.
Alexis Vertefeuille, Founder and CEO of Sinistar, added:
“Temporary housing is about helping people regain stability after a loss while giving adjusters the tools and visibility to support them effectively. Peter understands those needs from decades of leading claims organizations. His perspective will help us strengthen our platform, build lasting relationships with U.S. insurers, and grow with a clear focus on the people we serve.”
